Online Journalists
Among conservative thinkers, there are a number of lights that shine very brightly. The conservative journalists listed below are active analysts and commentators on all of the most pressing topics of the day.
Ann Coulter
Coulter graduated with honors from Cornell University and received her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School, where she was an editor of The Michigan Law Review. Coulter clerked for the Honorable Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and was an attorney in the Department of Justice Honors Program for outstanding law school graduates. After practicing law in private practice in New York City, Coulter worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she handled crime and immigration issues for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. From there, she became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of individual rights with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, civil rights, and the free exercise of religion.
Coulter is the legal correspondent for Human Events and writes a popular syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate. She is a frequent guest on many TV shows, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Hannity and Colmes, The Glen Beck Show, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, and has been profiled in numerous publications, including TV Guide, the Guardian (UK), the New York Observer, National Journal, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle magazine. Ann is also the author of six New York Times bestsellers
Charles Krauthammer
Charles Krauthammer is a Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist and commentator. His weekly column appears in the The Washington Post and he is a contributing editor to the Weekly Standard and The New Republic. Krauthammer appears regularly as a commentator on Fox News and as a weekly panelist on Inside Washington.
Krauthammer was born in New York City and raised in Montreal. He attended McGill University, earning an honors degree in political science and economics. Pausing briefly, to study politics as a Commonwealth Scholar at Oxford, he moved to the US, where he attended Harvard Medical School. In his first year as a med student, Krauthammer was paralyzed in a serious diving accident but faced his obstacles head on, graduating with his class.
After serving as Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Krauthammer quit medicine to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Jimmy Carter administration. During the presidential campaign of 1980, Krauthammer served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale. Following the campaign, he joined The New Republic as editor and began writing essays for Time magazine. In 1985, he began a weekly column for the Washington Post, where he still publishes. The Financial Times named Krauthammer the most influential commentator in America, saying “Krauthammer has influenced US foreign policy for more than two decades.”
Krauthammer is generally considered a conservative. However, on domestic issues, Krauthammer is a supporter of legalized abortion; an opponent of the death penalty; an intelligent design critic and an advocate for the scientific consensus on evolution, calling the religion-science controversy a “false conflict”; a supporter of embryonic stem cell research (involving embryos discarded by fertility clinics); and a longtime advocate of radically higher energy taxes to induce conservation.

John is former chief speechwriter and a senior policy adviser to Attorney General John Ashcroft.
Larry Elder
A "firebrand libertarian" according to "Daily Variety," best-selling author and radio talk-show host Larry Elder has a take-no-prisoners style, using such old-fashioned tools as evidence and logic. Larry shines the bright light of reasoned analysis on many of the myths and hypocrisies apparent in our system of government, our society, and the media itself. He slays dragons and topples sacred cows using facts, common sense and a ready wit. Known to his listeners as the "Sage From South Central," Larry sizzles on the airwaves with his thoughtful insight on the day’s most provocative issues, to the delight, consternation, and entertainment of his listeners. The "Sage" engages political and cultural leaders in meaningful debates over race, government, personal responsibility and education that have elevated the talk radio genre. A blend of fiscal conservative and social liberal—with attitude—Elder’s libertarian views have fueled controversy and made him one of the most in-demand radio personalities in the country. In May, 2003, Elder shifted his political party registration from "Decline to State" (which, in California, means independent) to the Republican Party. He continues to support the libertarian principles of limited government and maximum personal and financial responsibility.
Mark Steyn
Born in Canada in 1959, Mark is a conservative writer and commentator about politics, arts and culture. He has authored five books, including a New York Times bestseller. He is published in newspapers and magazines and appears on politically conservative radio shows.
Michael Medved is a nationally syndicated radio host, best-selling author, and veteran film critic. Born in Philadelphia, educated in public schools in San Diego and Los Angeles, Michael attended Yale as a National Merit Scholar, graduating with honors as an American History major. He then attended Yale Law School (where his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton) before going to work as a political speechwriter and consultant for a variety of liberal candidates and office-holders.
Medved’s tenth book, "RIGHT TURNS" drew national attention in 2005, drawing 35 "unconventional lessons" from Michael’s dramatic transition from "punk liberal activist" to "lovable conservative curmudgeon." The New York Times called Right Turns "A provocative memoir… Even many of his readers who hold to very different political and social views will concede, grudgingly, the quality of Medved’s intellect." National Review Online explains, "Right Turns is an engaging memoir and a moving tribute to America. It is also a very accessible road map for explaining the practical reasons old radicals often become older conservatives."
Michelle Malkin
Michelle is a Philly-born, South Jersey-raised alumna of Holy Spirit HS and Oberlin College. Wife, blogger, conservative syndicated columnist, author of 3 books, and Fox News Channel contributor. Despite her online presence, Michelle was born and remains an "ink-stained wretch". The Washington Times has called him “the indispensable leader” and Time magazine, in naming him Man of the Year for 1995, said, “Leaders make things possible. Exceptional leaders make them inevitable. Newt Gingrich belongs in the category of the exceptional.” Recognized internationally as an expert on world history, military issues, and international affairs, Newt serves as a Member of the Defense Policy Board.
